Southeast Region Evangelizes at the “Mall of Georgia”
I am the Southeast Regional Coordinator, Vanessa Edwards, and I want to relay my experience with evangelizing by distributing books at the Mall of Georgia in Buford, GA, in the metro Atlanta area. I have been very nervous about publicly evangelizing the True Life in God (TLIG) messages. Whenever others would discuss their successful evangelization efforts, I felt anxious and had determined that this particular ministry probably wasn't my calling. However, Mark Kliethermes, of the Midwest South Region, had felt the same way until he visited another ardent TLIG reader who showed him the process he uses. Since then, Mark has been visiting other regions to train their readers how to distribute the introductory Vol. 1 (1986-1987) book and was gracious enough to visit the Southeast Region in June of this year.
He and I met Thursday morning, June 27th, at the mall just as it opened, and distributed 34 books--- all that his bag could hold---in about an hour and a half. After Mark had approached several people, he let me try. I was amazed at how simple the process was! Most people, whether they were Christian or not, received the books with a smile and a "thank you." Even those who did not accept declined graciously.
We held a regional conference call on Friday, June 28 to discuss the evangelization process. During the meeting, Mark and I also shared with the group the outcome of our visit to the mall the day before. Those people present that wanted to join in the evangelization efforts were offered free books for distribution and the opportunity to evangelize at the mall on Saturday morning with someone who had done it before. Two people, local to the Atlanta area, evangelized with help and support from others. We distributed 64 more books!
I'm thankful that we had the training. It eased my fear of approaching people I don't know and calmed my trepidation about negative reactions. Although that might happen sometime in the future, I feel I am now ready and willing to offer the Messages to people who need them, to evangelize with love for Love.
