Evangelization Window:
“Asian Heritage Fest”
On April 19, 2025, a friend sent to my husband and me an invitation to participate in the Asian Heritage Fest, an annual event celebrating the diverse cultures of different Asian countries. All the participants of the Fest were asked to showcase their respective culture to be held on May 3. We planned to present a Filipino dance. I prayed for discernment, whether we will accept it or not. We were concerned about the time of preparation and maybe pulling away from our regular spiritual commitments. An inspiration came to our mind that we might be able to use it as an opportunity for evangelization. So, I told my friend that since our faith is part of our culture, we will give out our free spiritual books, True Life in God.
In the morning mass on the Fest Day, I asked the intervention of Mama Mary and Vassula for their prayers to assist us. Just an hour into the event, we were told that next year there will be no religious displays allowed. The organizers had already rejected the Pakistanis’ request this year, but my friend was not informed, so she did not ask the organizers permission for us to share the books. Thanks be to God, they did not stop us from giving out the True Life In God Introductory Volume I books.
During the Fest, there were stage performances one after the other, people milling about, and offering plenty of ethnic food for sale. There was a diverse mix of different ethnic groups, like Indian, Chinese, Pakistani, Filipino, and surprisingly a Russian ethnic dance number. The general atmosphere of the Fest was more for entertainment and food tasting.
A total of 42 True Life In God Introductory Volume I books were given out. Praised be to Jesus and Mama Mary! A thank you to our beloved Vassula for interceding in the evangelization effort.
We would also like to acknowledge the whole TLIG team and all TLIG donors for the supply of all the books. Let Us/We, with God's grace, continue to work in the vineyard of TLIG, for the Glory of God.
"We can do nothing by ourselves. This should be encouraging, because it takes the pressure off our shoulders. The fruit comes from Jesus, not us, so we are only responsible for obedience; He is responsible for the outcome." (Deacon Art’s Homily on the day)
